Dan Lomas FTR overall winner at National F-Class Short Range Challenge

18.04.2024

Big congrats to Vihtavuori sponsored F-Class shooter Dan Lomas for winning the National Short Range Challenge! Dan used Vihtavuori N150 powder in his winning combination together with Lapua brass and Berger bullets.

The UK National F-Class Short Range Challenge took place at Bisley on 13-14 April, with a total of 101 competitors fairly equally split between Open and FTR classes.

Dan was the overall winner of FTR class and won the match 5 and made it to third place in match 6. He won silver at the Sunday Aggregate as well.

“I’m thrilled to win the first national shoot of 2024. The short range challenge is carried out at 600 yards all weekend, and because of this we can squeeze 6 matche

s in over the two days as we do not have to move firing points. The winter in the UK has been awful, with so much rain, but the weekend of this competition was great with glorious sunshine and nearly 20 degrees. The wind was very twitchy and changed rapidly. The wind on Sunday was a fishtailing headwind switching many times between right and left so if the switch was missed it was easy to be taken out for a big 4 with a few scoring some 3s. I love these conditions, and with the sunshine came some welcome mirage to use to pick through the switching wind.It was great to meet up with the other UK competitors after a long wet winter!”, Dan commented.
